       THANK YOU to everyone who helped with decorating for Advent yesterday, and setting the stage up.  Your help was greatly appreciated.

 

 

THE DECEMBER CALENDAR  is available from an usher today.

 

 

SECRETARY VACATION:  Cathy will be on vacation this week, November 29 thru December 2.

 

 

CHARIS SUNDAY TODAY!  Cash offerings may be given to an Elder, and canned goods may be placed in the kitchen.

 

 

THANK YOU to those who attended last night’s Fundraiser at the VFW to raise funds to ship the bus to Haiti.  

 

 

     COOKIE BAKE: The ladies (and men) of the congregation are invited to the 2nd annual cookie bake (to serve at the Live Nativity on December 3).  Cookie-making festivities will take place in our beautiful church kitchen this Wednesday, November 30, beginning at 3:00PM  All basic ingredients will be supplied--flour, sugar, baking soda/powder, salt, and eggs.  Bring your favorite Christmas cookie recipe and any ingredients not supplied.  We'll bake cookies and send out for dinner.  We had a great time last year and hope that all of our ladies will come out.  Come when you can, leave when you must.  ??         LIVE NATIVITY!  Members of Celebration Ministries (formerly Hope, Park Forest) will be putting on a live Nativity here at Immanuel this Saturday, December 3rd from 4-7 PM.  Immanuel will provide hot dogs and chili for the public.  Our Crossroads students will sing at 4PM.  Come join us.  Also, let Janine or Pastor know if you can help in any way with the meal, even if only for an hour.  Celebration will host the nativity at their location on Sunday, December 4th.  

 

 

WBBB  will meet on December 10th at 10:00 AM.  We will have a short bible study and Luncheon – please bring a salad or dessert.  We will also finalize needs for the family we have adopted for Christmas.    See Janine for more info.  Thank you to everyone who participated in Operation Christmas Child.   We packed 73 shoe boxes!

CHRISTMAS “ADOPT-A-FAMILY”:  The congregation and school are once again adopting a family for Christmas.  We have chosen a mother, who is a veteran, with six children.

Names and gift suggestions are on the bulletin board.  If you wish to purchase a gift, take one of the sticky notes – purchase the gift – put the sticky note on the gift, and return it unwrapped to church no later than Tuesday, December 13th.  See Janine if you wish to make a donation towards a large family gift, or if you have any questions.  We will also provide a gift card for them to purchase groceries for their Christmas Dinner.  Thank you!

 

 

 

    UPDATE ON HELEN FORSTER:  Following a fall in which she broke several ribs, Helen’s family has moved her near them in Kalamazoo, Michigan.  She has gone to a rehab center for the time being.  We will publish her new address information as soon as we receive it.

 

      

PROJECT FOR HAITI:  We are collecting pillowcases (all sizes) to make Pillowcase Dresses for the girls at the orphanage in Jeremie, Haiti. Please give any pillowcases to Janine Bartling or Debbie Brandenburg.  If you like to sew, we may pick a date to meet and sew dresses.  Any questions, see Janine or Debbie.  Thank you!  

 

 

        THE ALTAR GUILD still needs a new member!  You would serve every third month.  Set-up/clean-up can be done before and after Sunday morning worship.  If you can help, please see or call Janine Bartling at 815-468-7754.

CURRENT HAITI INFORMATION is on the bulletin board by the children’s tables in Fellowship Hall (near the narthex).

 

HAITI DONATIONS:  Any checks may be made payable to:

 Haitian Lutheran Mission Project.  We also need metal bowls and spoons – the children bring them to school to receive a meal of beans and rice at lunch;  sewing supplies – scissors, thread, bobbins, zippers, bolts (not scraps) of fabric; teacher supplies – chalk, rulers, globes and maps.  Thank you!

 

COALITION PARTNERS are meeting here on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM, as needed.  ALL members are welcome to attend.

There will be no meeting this Tuesday, November 29th.

LUTHER EAST HIGH SCHOOL CHRISTMAS CONCERT:

Kick off the holiday season at Luther East’s annual Christmas Concert on Friday, December 9th at 7:00pm.  You’ll enjoy an evening’s program of lovely Christmas music performed by our Luther East Concert Band, Eagle Choir and featured soloists.

 

 

          TOYS FOR NEEDY CHILDREN:  The Richton Park Fire Department will once again be purchasing toys for children of several needy families.  If you would like to make a donation, checks can be made payable to:  Richton Park Fire Fighters Association   -or-  Richton Park Fire Department – mail or drop off at 4455 Sauk Trail, Richton Park, IL  60471.

 

TOYS FOR TOTS:  Luther East High School is accepting new toys for "Toys for Tots."   Please drop off your donation at the High School, 2750 Glenwood- Lansing Rd., Lansing, IL, during the hours of 7:30 am - 3:15 pm, before Dec. 12th.

 

 

COOKIE & CANDY SALE:  Immanuel, Mokena will hold a Cookie Walk on Saturday, Dec. 10th, 9 AM – 1:00 PM.  Hand-made cookies and candy will be available.
